I called my Boss, Coton Sport’s president, Mr Maina Gilbert. Then, I told him that I had seen a very talented young Striker. A boy who had the potential of becoming a very good player, even the best in the country in years to come.
Thankfully, President Maina accepted, and we brought in Vincent alongside another footballer, Edgar Salli. Jacques Zoua was already at Coton Sports academy. The three footballers later became part of Cameroon’s 2017 AFCON-winning squad.

Poor Aboubakar waited for a long time before he could find the back of the net with his new club. His first European goal came against the olden days PSG in December 2010. He had a poor first season after making 20 appearances, scoring only four, and assisting one goal.

Once upon a time, in the presence of his family and loved ones, Vincent Aboubakar drank alcohol for the first time. The brothers of the Superstar that day discovered a man they were not used to. That day, Aboubakar became drunk, was very extravagant, danced and talked a lot.

”It was several years ago, we had a party, and Vincent drank alcohol for the first time. We discovered someone we did not know.

Sadly, Edouard Aboubakar is no more. He died in the year 2010 – in the first months of his son’s arrival in Valenciennes, Northern France.
