Little Jeremy started playing football with the Devils of Olympic Deurne, an academy that later went into collaboration with Tubantia Borgerhout who are their partners and a bigger team. In order to open up opportunities for a bigger academy, Jeremy Doku joined them.
Barely a year of playing with Tubantia Borgerhout, the youngster began looking for an exit option. This was because the club went into bankruptcy. Following Tubantia Borgerhout’s close of business, Jeremy began his search for a stable academy.
The Beerschot AC Story:
Still, within the northern Belgium city, Jeremy settled with one of Antwerp’s best academy. Beer. Beerschot AC is just 17 minutes away from his family home and an academy famous for projecting youngsters into national fame.
While at Beerschot, Jeremy began following the footsteps of Radja Nainggolan whom he made his idol. It wasn’t until Beerschot that it became apparent what a talent he was, says his father, David Doku.
Within a year of joining, Jeremy who appears to be a leader of his side, helped his team to win a famous youth trophy.

When the youngster won that trophy for Beerschot, it was evident that he had prospects of becoming a national star.
Recognizing his remarkable quality, a host of the biggest clubs in the country began the quest to convince his parents to have their son sign for them.
In the year 2012, at the age of 10, R.S.C. Anderlecht became the lucky team that signed Jeremy. Considering he was still schooling, the club offered him a scholarship at their boarding facility named Anderlecht’s Purple Talents boarding school.
For the first time, Jeremy Doku left his family in Antwerp, travelling for nearly 50km, south of Belgium to dedicate himself to his new surroundings. As earlier stated, the club took care of his secondary education.
Life at Anderlecht:
At his new club, Jeremy saw lots of good players. Among them, he had more quality thanks to his dribbling and speed. That he used to impress Stéphane Stassin, his trainer from the U12.
Because of his quest to finish secondary school, training became limited. Despite that, he performed well during matches. Such a feat earned him a call to the Belgium U15 youth team. As he progressed through the club ranks, so he did at the national youth level.
Approaching the end of his teenage years, Jeremy Doku developed a different personality on the pitch.
He got the nicknames “Arrogant One and King of Dribbles” because of the way he put his foot on the ball and waited for opposing layers to come to him. When they come, he dribbled them and then put his feet back on the ball.

The Liverpool Temptation:
At the age of 15, he had begun getting transfer offers. He had a choice between 5 – 6 of the biggest clubs in Europe. Arsenal, Chelsea, Dutch clubs but especially Liverpool wanted him. The Reds in particular pulled Doku sleeves at the beginning of the 2017/2018 season.
In January 2017, Liverpool invited Jeremy Doku’s parents including himself to visit their facilities with Steven Gerrard and Jürgen Klopp. The England club explained their project to him – that he would become a long term successor of Sadio Mané.
