Frenkie de Jong Biography – Rise to Fame:

After playing for the entire youth system of Willem II, Frenkie made his Eredivisie debut on the 10^th of May 2015 during a match that saw his side defeat ADO Den Haag in a 1-0 home victory.

Following his successful debut, a few clubs tried to secure his services, including Ajax and PSV. Frenkie, however, settled for Ajax, signing a four-year contract with the club in the summer of 2015.

While at Ajax Frenkie was placed with the club’s reserve – Jong Ajax where he made great impacts that saw him progress to the club’s senior side in 2016.

Upon gaining promotion to the senior side, Frenkie helped the team to its 2017 Europa League final, a development which among others saw him clinch the Jupiler League’s Talent of the Season Award. He also achieved a meteoric rise under Erik ten Hag with Ajax.

As a result, Frenkie became sought after by top clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG, which reportedly signalled their interest in him by making bids. The rest, as they say, is history.
