Asides from helping his parents at the poultry farm, young Ivan developed a talent in football early on.
He used his spare time to play football, and his passion for the game saw him enrol with a local team, Hajduk Split, which gave him the stage to showcase his talent.
Ivan’s quest to take his career very seriously and to the next level came with a financial problem for the Perisic family. His parents could not afford his academy fees.
The need for money came with great sacrifices for his dad, who painfully had to sell his poultry farm stocks to take care of his son’s career demands.
Ivan’s father, Ante Perisic, is a man who believes in investment. He does invest for his son, even if it means giving up every property he has.
Ante sold his poultry equipment in a bid to raise money to send his son to the best football academy in Croatia.
In a bid to get his family up and running, Ante had to purchase agricultural equipment on credit, which later got him in trouble (Explained below in Ivan Perisic Family Facts). Antie Perisic was there for his son at every step of the way.
Ivan Perisic Biography – Final Sacrifice and Rise to Fame:
Nevertheless, it was the family poultry business that set the course for Ivan’s career early on. Ivan spent six solid years at Hajduk, playing his football and going to school.
Despite struggling with his debt from his poultry equipment purchases, Ivan’s visionary dad decided to take another loan.
This time, loan monies were used to send his son to France in order to get bigger opportunities in his career.
As at this time, Ivan was called up for trials by Sochaux, a French club founded by Jean-Pierre Peugeot, a prominent member of the Peugeot family.
For young Ivan, the primary purpose of going to France, asides from getting an opportunity in his career was to stay independent and raise money to repay his father’s huge debts.
Without a doubt, a lot of this money was pumped into his move to Sochaux. This move happened in the 2006/2007 season. Luckily for him, Ivan broke through as soon as he played his first game for the club.
That summer, in 2006, French newspapers began writing about a curly-haired youngster (pictured below) who was fond of impressing the crowd.
Ivan’s impressive performance led to his move to Belgium, where he believed he would grow faster. Ivan started with a loan at Roeselare before moving to Club Brugge, where he finally made a name for himself.
With the Belgian club, Ivan became the Belgian Pro League top goal scorer and Belgian Best Footballer of the Year for 2011.
This feat earned him a move to Borussia Dortmund, where he won the 2011–12 Bundesliga. At this time, he was no longer known as the curly-haired boy but a mature and deadly footballer in the wings and in front of goal.

In every successful Croatian footballer, there is a glamorous wag, girlfriend and wife. Ivan Perisic met his childhood sweetheart, Josipa, in high school. Back then, both lovers were classmates who shared the same school bench in the class.
Both started their relationship as best friends and later got involved with each other. Ivan and Josipa got married in 2012 during his time with Borussia Dortmund. They’ve been happy couples since their marriage.
