Rodrigo Moreno Childhood Story Plus Untold Biography Facts – Education and Career Buildup

While in Brazil, before his entire family moved to Spain, Rodrigo together with his cousins were all students of Barrel’s school located in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. For Rodrigo, following his dad’s footstep was necessary as he began participating in football before his 5th grade. In order to get proper futsal education, Rodrigo’s parents had him enrolled with soccer school Escolinha do Flamengo early on while he was aged 5.

Rodrigo was a star of the Escolinha do Flamengo Juniors Team (a team where his dad retired from his senior career). He played several championships there where he stood out from his teammates, winning several Futsal championships as a kid.

For Rodrigo, the purpose of playing soccer was to pickoff from where his dad has left off, that is, continuing living his family dreams. Ideally, it was hard for his dad Adalberto Machado and uncle Mazinho to deal with retirement.

While his second cousins, Rafinha and Thiago Alcantara left Brazil to Spain as little kids, Rodrigo himself moved to Spain in his early teens, settling in the Autonomous community of Galicia. Thiago and Rafinha first played at their father’s football academy investment in the year 1996 and was looked after by Rodrigo’s dad. The two boys would sometime sleep at Rodrigo’s house when Mazinho and his wife travel for business.

Rodrigo left Brazil after playing futsal practice for Flamengo and joined his family in Spain in the year 2003. In the second year after he arrived (in 2005), his cousins Rafinha and Thiago Alcantara had progressed to Barcelona’s La Masia. Below is a photo of Rodrigo at the time he came visiting his second cousins at the famed FC Barcelona’s academy.

Rodrigo Moreno Childhood Story Plus Untold Biography Facts – Road to Fame Story

After being summoned by former Real Madrid manager Manuel Pellegrini into the first team, Rodrigo hopes to feature in the first team brightened. Painfully things didn’t work as planned as Manuel Pellegrini was sacked and a new José Mourinho appointed didn’t put Rodrigo in his plans. Jose Mourinho was only interested in big players (the likes of Ozil, Angel Di Maria, Emmanuel Adebayor) and this left Rodrigo frustrated with no option than to leave the club.

Jose Mourinho sold Rodrigo to Benfica where he met another competition for his playing position. He had an unhealthy competition with legendary Pablo Aimar, Javier Saviola and Nuno Gomes. Benfica (nicknamed The Eagles) later brokered a deal to send Rodrigo out on loan to Bolton Wanderers after he wasn’t able to unseat those legends.

At Bolton (located in Manchester, UK), Rodrigo lived alone, this time without his dad by his side for the first time. At the club, he reunited with former Madrid team teammate Marcos Alonso who went on to do great things at Chelsea. Sadly, there wasn’t a roaring success for Rodrigo in England largely because the poor lad found himself behind South Korean footballer Lee Chung-Yong for his preferred right-wing slot.
