Yes, everyone knows about his highly creative and playmaking abilities but few consider our Thiago Alcantara’s Biography which is quite interesting. Now without further adieu, let’s Begin.
Thiago Alcantara Childhood Story – Early Life and Family Background:
Thiago Alcántara do Nascimento was born on the 11th day of April 1991 in San Pietro Vernotico, southern Italy. Unlike many footballers we have written about, Thiago was born to super-rich Brazilian parents; mother, Valéria Alcântara and father, Mazinho.
For Alcantara, there never seemed to be much doubt that he would pursue a career in football, and having a father who was also a FIFA World Cup winner certainly helped him.
Thiago lived a celebrity childhood life as his father pictured above in a Stadium Class A Spot with his family was among those who held Brazilian football at that time. Mazinho was pictured below was relaxing after a suspension with his little sons and beautiful wife while the 1994 world cup match was ongoing.
Hence, Thiago’s childhood story is interesting, if not uncommon – that of a little boy who saw his father winning the world cup for Brazil in 1994 and have ever since decided to become a professional footballer.
Because of his father’s gene and his mother’s athleticism (we’ll tell you more as contained in his family life), Thiago’s childhood life naturally became blessed with extraordinary talent. In addition, he saw himself possessing a steely determination to make his dreams come true and his ambitions were not just a passing fancy.
“I just want to be a footballer”, he said when interviewed by portalbarra.com.br at the age of eleven. His dad Mazinho (l.), who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994, unsurprisingly pointed him in the right direction from a very early age. As he also puts it’ “The first gift I ever received was a football. I spent all my time playing with it.”
Asides from having his first gift, his dad would regularly take him to his own training session. After training, he would spend time teaching his son the necessary antics in the game. As the son of 1994 FIFA World Cup winner Mazinho, it’s perhaps unsurprising that was on his way to superstardom from a young age.
Below is a childhood photo of Tiago and his dad during at a time he was about to kickstart his career. With a lovely and rare father-son moment.

After winning honours including four La Liga titles, the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup for Barcelona, Thiago felt it was time to leave Barcelona especially as his coaching mentor ‘Pep‘ had left the cub. He built another dream of going to Bayern Munich and Pep who was currently coaching the German giant had to fight for his boy. In his words…

Alcantara’s style of play is very much a result of the many influences he has had over the years. “I’m lucky to benefit from a great mixture,” he told Reuters. “I have my dad’s Brazilian roots, and in Spain, I was introduced to a better organisation on the pitch and gained a tactical understanding.” His biggest influence, however, remains Pep Guardiola: “He’ll change the way you think about football,” Thiago told bundesliga.com. “That’s how it was with me.”
