THROUGHOUT MY CHILDHOOD I PLAYED FOOTBALL WITH MY BROTHER REGINALD. WE DID IT OUTSIDE ON THE STREET AND AT THE HALLWAY INSIDE OUR LIVING ROOM.
HAHA, KICKING THE BALL AND BREAKING THINGS LIKE FLOWER VASES, SOMETIMES DROVE MY PARENTS CRAZY. THEY WERE ALWAYS AFRAID THAT MORE THINGS WOULD BREAK. BUT WITH GOOD TECHNIQUE FROM A YOUNG AGE, THE DAMAGE WAS LIMITED.
Did you know?… Both Myron and Reginald would stop kicking the soccer ball by 10 pm in the evening. This was to avoid noise nuisance from neighbours.

ATTENDING TO SCHOOL WASN’T REALLY MY CUP OF TEA. THINGS ACTUALLY WENT PRETTY WELL WITH ME IN CLASS, BUT I’M BAD AT READING AND PLANNING. I DID HOMEWORK ALWAYS AT THE LAST MINUTE.
THERE WAS ONE MORE THING: AROUND THE AGE OF TEN, MY INTEREST IN SCHOOLING REDUCED. AT THAT TIME, I STARTED TO BELIEVE I COULD BECOME A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER.
Myron Boadu Biography – Untold Football Story:
Approaching the age of 10, Boadu’s talent began to look so natural, like he was born to play football.
The Amsterdammer followed Reginald’s (his elder brother’s) footsteps. He ended up joining his brother’s team – FC Bijlmer.
Two years later (age 12), Myron Boadu totally abandoned his books after knowing football was a realistic option. During this time, he had switched to SC Buitenveldert.
This is another Dutch academy in Amsterdam city. As seen in the map below, his new club was just a stone’s throw from the former.
In his second season with SC Buitenveldert, big clubs with better academies began showing an interest in him.
Among those were Ajax, the closest to his family home. Myron dreamt day and night of joining Ajax. Other big teams who wanted him were; AZ, FC Utrecht and Almere City.
Myron Boadu Biography – Road to Fame Story:
Recognizing he was among the brightest kids in their Amsterdam neighbourhood, Ajax became so desperate to invite the youngster for trials. To have a taste of his quality, they placed Myron on an internship.
At first, everything went smoothly, not until Ajax’s youth management summoned him – for reasons he knew not. Myron Boadu never expected the shocking negative outcome of that meeting.
Surprisingly, Ajax told him he wasn’t good enough. This came after they only watched him train just three times and featuring in a practice match. Speaking about the disappointment, Myron said;
In only one match, I scored once and felt I had gone well. I was convinced they would single me out for praises.
When I went in for a private interview, I was shocked to hear I would return to Buitenveldert, my old team.

I will never forget the moment I got on a plane to meet Arsene Wenger in London. I thought that it may be an important day in my life.
If I had said yes to the contract, it would have had far-reaching consequences for my family. There was no way I would become a starter for them.

Another Reason to Reject Arsenal and an Improved Life with AZ:

Myron Boadu is confident he won’t regret rejecting the Gunners. More so, nothing will stop him from realizing his dream – not even the serious injuries he had, which once derailed his career before it had even started.
The youngster has long been regarded as the most sparkling diamond in the Dutch league. His gameplay improved greatly after the departure of AZ attacking giant, Wout Weghorst.
Recognized as Europe’s highest-scoring 18-year-old, Myron’s blistering pace and ability have turned him into a modern-day poacher.
