Starting off, his full names are Allan Irénée Saint-Maximin. He was born on the 12th day of March 1997 to his mother, Nadège Saint-Maximin, and father Alex Saint-Maximin in Châtenay-Malabry, a commune in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, France.

Like his fellow brothers; Thomas Lemar, Thierry Henry, Dimitri Payet and Kingsley Coman, the French man belongs to France’s Guianese Creole ethnic group with Caribbean and South American family roots. Although born in France, Saint-Maximin has his family origin from the countries of Guyana (his mother’s side) and Guadeloupe (his father’s side).

Being born to rich parents gave Saint-Maximin a bright start to life. He grew up in an upper-class family background and was very comfortable as a child. Allan Saint-Maximin’s parents had the best financial education and never struggled with monies.

Saint-Maximin’s parents and school teachers gave him all the values needed to make him excel while growing up. Back then as a little schoolboy, Allan was given 10 euros by his mum each time when he left home for school.

He spent the money buying candies and supporting his friends in need (A sign of his early generosity). While in school, Saint-Maximin’s talent in athletics and football was discovered and further harnessed by himself without having a coach or mentor. Speaking about that, he once said;

“My talent came naturally to me. I took a ball everywhere, at school, at home, etc. I played football at all times despite not being coached. It was my own approach, just the way I have wanted it. My pace and skills were self-taught”

Among all sporting options, It was athletics that came first thanks to his natural flair for running which has been since he was a child. Later on, he applied Athletics to Football and he began playing the game with his elder brother, Kurtys who at that time aspired to be a footballer. Early on, Saint-Maximin trusted in his skills, a development that made him believe he had the talent to go professional.
Tagging alongside his brother, Saint-Maximin’s first mission became for him to learn how to do extraordinary things with the soccer ball. He did that all in the name of standing out from the crowd of boys in his neighbourhood- a place where football opportunities were limited. Day in day out, the French man began honing his skills on concrete as well as grass. Saint-Maximin played with boys around his brother’s age (two or three years his senior).

The street footballer who was largely uncoached was lucky to get an opportunity for trials with Verrières-le-Buisson, a local club- 34 min drive and 10.8km from his family home.
At the time both brothers (Kurtys being the first) successful gained admission with the academy, the joy of Saint-Maximin’s family members indeed had no bounds.

Allan Saint-Maximin Football Story – Early Career Life:

As a youngster, Saint-Maximin learned his trade at youth clubs Verriere-le-Buisson for few months before progressing to another club, US Ris-Orangis which was a further 55 min  drive/(34.5 km) from his family home in Meudon. At the club, he was cared for by two educators, Jean-Louis Lessard and Didier Demonchy. Saint-Maximin played under the tutelage of his teacher Frédéric Ferreira during his 3 years spell.

As many would expect, he had a good start to his career. Saint-Maximin was so thrilling to watch because of his constant display of pace and skills. This feat saw him progressing to French’s multi-purpose academy named ACBB (Athletic Club de Boulogne-Billancourt) in the year 2007.

ACBB was not just an academy, but a sporting brand where all Parents wanted to enroll their children. This was because the academy had a reputation for projecting its players to top French clubs. Hatem Ben Arfa, Yacine Bammou, to name but a few passed through the club.

“In the academy, they train, one touch, two touch. Everyone observed I was brought up differently. I dribbled a lot and was told to play against bigger and stronger boys. I learned how to beat them and at the same time, aviod getting kicked”

His coach at the time, Guillaume Sabatier, built his team around him. In his first competitive game, Allan Saint-Maximin made an impression by scoring 8 goals. Considered a phenomenon in his young age, he acquired a huge reputation among recruiters all over France. Soon, Saint-Maximin took the biggest decision of his academic career by joining Saint-Étienne, a club that gave him safe passage towards academy graduation in the year 2013.

At Saint-Étienne B, Saint-Maximin became one of their brightest players, a development that earned him his French national callup. Unfortunately, progressing into the club’s senior squad didn’t see the French genius getting enough playing time.
