Marco James Reus [Full Name] was born on the 31st day of May 1989 in Dortmund, Germany by Manuela Reus (mother) and Thomas Reus (Father).

Starting off, Marco Reus is a native of Britain and not Germany which is contrary to popular belief. His dad, Thomas Reus hails from England and was raised in Germany. Marco’s mum Manuela has a Russian heritage. She was also raised in Germany like her husband.

Marco Reus as being the only son of his parents had a humble beginning in Dortmund. He was never over pampered beyond limits. Ideally, his parents never went overboard. Young Marco was also known as the playing type.

While there, he was told his slight physique would hinder him turning professional. This resulted in him having irregular playing time at the club for years. In a bid to get better playing time, young Reus left the club and moved to Rot-Weiß Ahlen where he got regular football.

Marco went on to shape the immediate future of the club. He made 97 league appearances for Monchengladbach and established himself there. Reus bagged the decisive goal that helped the Foals avoid relegation in 2011 and then scored 18 times in 2011/12 to secure a fourth-placed finish and entry to the UEFA Champions League qualifying stage.

The German star has managed his on-field duties very well but neglected few of his off-field duties. Reus was once handed one of the biggest driving fines in the history of Germany in 2014.

It all happened in December 2014. Reus was fined over £500,000 for driving without a licence. He had previously been issued with speeding tickets on at least five occasions since 2011 without authorities knowing that he was not licensed.
