Marco Reus Childhood Story Plus Untold Biography Facts –Career in Summary
He began to play football for his hometown club Post-SV Dortmund in 1994 and joined the youth ranks of Borussia Dortmund in 1996. Back then, his first apartment was only one way from Borussia Park which is close to home.
While there, he was told his slight physique would hinder him turning professional. This resulted in him having irregular playing time at the club for years. In a bid to get better playing time, young Reus left the club and moved to Rot-Weiß Ahlen where he got regular football.
This happened in the summer of 2006. A year he got so confused about choosing his nationality [German, English, Russian].
“It was very painful for me to leave‚,” he told The Guardian in 2013. “When you spend your whole youth career at one club, you want to make the next step – especially when you support that team and then observe the lack of opportunity they give you.” …“I left BVB because I wanted to have more playing time. It’s no use to be in Dortmund if you only sit on the bench,” Reus said.
He initially played for their reserve team before making a transition to the senior team. He was spotted by the Borussia Monchengladbach scouts in 2009. The club went on to sign him.
Marco went on to shape the immediate future of the club. He made 97 league appearances for Monchengladbach and established himself there. Reus bagged the decisive goal that helped the Foals avoid relegation in 2011 and then scored 18 times in 2011/12 to secure a fourth-placed finish and entry to the UEFA Champions League qualifying stage.
However, one thing was imminent;… Returning to his boyhood club was always on his mind. This he did. The rest, as they say, is now history.
