For Biography starters, Jordan Brian Henderson was born on the 7th day of June 1990 in Tyne and Wear, Sunderland, to his mother, Liz Henderson (fitness teacher) and father, Brian Henderson (retired police officer).

Jordan was schooled at Farringdon Community Sports College. He dropped out to join Sunderland as a youngster (age 6). Both Jordan and his parents were hardcore Sunderland fans.

At age 7, little Jordan began to operate as both a striker and a right-winger. He later converted to a central midfielder, a role he continued till his adulthood.

He was an integral part of the Black Cats U18 side, which clinched back-to-back league titles.

In January 2009, Henderson joined the Championship club Coventry City on a one-month loan deal.

On 9 June 2011, Henderson was transferred to Liverpool for an undisclosed fee, thought to be between £16 and £20 million.

Brian, who later recovered from the disease, said: “It was a very emotional time when I had to break the news to the family.”
