First of all, his full name is Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz and not Luis Suárez as he is popularly called. Luis Suárez was born in Salto, Uruguay to poor parents and as the fourth child (son) out of seven boys.

Recent evidence reveal that Luis Suárez is of mixed race, with public records indicating him having a black grandfather. For Young Suárez, growing up in Salto, Uruguay was extremely difficult. Economic hardship coupled with poverty made his parents weigh options of relocating to the Uruguay’s capital ‘Montevideo’.

For Young Luis Suárez, being a Salto local boy was more important. He feels happy playing football in his local surroundings with friends as pictured below.

Despite his parents relocating to Montevideo (Uruguay’s capital), Luis Suárez refused to join them on the grounds of wanting to be left alone with Grand Ma at the village. He settled with his beloved grandma Mrs Da Rosa who remained with him at the village. She was fond of Luis Suarez and his friends.

Luis Suárez became a product of a broken home just after two years of joining his parents at the City. Ideally, both parents separated when he was nine (9) years old. After the separation, Luis Suarez developed a tough skin by deciding to hustle alone for his daily bread.

Being a product of a broken home means the beginning of another hard time for Luis Suárez. This is because both of his parents went alone on separate ways. Luis Suárez decided to live in nearby poor homes with people who gave him no opportunity to play football as he used to. Coupled with that, living conditions moved from bad to worst. Luis Suarez became Malnourished due to lack of food. This made him to sweep the street of Montevideo to earn a living.

Ideally, Luis Suarez decided at the age of 12 to quite playing football, going to training routines and even schooling. The only way to survive the hardship was to keep sweeping the streets of Uruguay to earn a living.

At the tender age of 14 while still working as a street sweeper, Luis Suarez meet the love of his life through a ‘Love at First Sight’. Meet and falling in love with Sofia was the best thing that ever happened to him. It was Sophia picked Luis Suarez up from the street. In a bid to sustain the relationship by becoming a man of him self, Luis Suárez gave in extra work to save up money. This was to enable approach Sophia’s family in a right manner. As a poor child, his greatest fear was to get rejected by her average family. These two love birds were  fond of each other as expressed in their pictures taken together at that time.

Sofia could do any thing for Suarez. She was responsible for bringing him back to good health courtesy of good meals. They both had their plans worked out on seeing her parents. To ensure no rejection, Luis Suarez had to look good.

Surprisingly, Luis Suarez’s fears diminished when he was welcomed in kind heart by Sofia’s family. This nice family assisted him in going back to school, feeding and putting him under their roofs. Shockingly, two years later (2003), Sofia’s family relocated to Spain. This left Luis Suárez terribly heart broken. The love of his life and source of his confidence was suddenly no more. He vowed to work so hard to be a professional player which would grant him opportunity to travel to Europe to play football. The long distance relationship was managed through charting with Sofia by mobile and internet. This lasted for two years. He was fond of crying each time he fails to perform well on the pitch. He made his first national team debut at the age of 18. This was the time when his self-assurance came back. He felt fitted in the team and much more relaxed.

On a very lucky day, the management of Groningen, Netherland scouted him in a game with Nacional and decided signed him. This made his dream finally came true. He left for Europe and Sofía joined him in Netherland. They lived in Groningen. Then he was 19 years and she was 3 years younger (16). However, things didn’t go well at first during his early games with the new european club. At some point in time, the club’s management wondered if they had made a great mistake buying him. This left Luis Suarez depressed. Thou, Sofia was there for him at all times. Encouraging him as pictured below.

Thanks to Sofia, after series of impressive games, Luis Suarez got back to form. His impressive performance made led to a move to Ajax In 2007. Two years later, He and Sofia got happily married.

They both had  a daughter (Delfina) in 2010. After a year, In 2011, Luis Suárez signed for Liverpool FC. Then two years later, they had a son (Benjamin).
