Our version of Petr Cech’s Biography, including his Childhood Story, brings you a full account of notable events from his childhood time right to the moment he became famous.

The analysis of the Chelsea Legendary Goalkeeper involves his life story before fame, family life and off-pitch facts about him.

Yes, everyone knows about his legendary status for Chelsea Football Club – since the early coaching years of Jose Mourinho.

However, not many soccer fans have read an in-depth version of Petr Cech’s Biography, which is quite interesting. Now, without further ado, let’s Begin.

Petr Cech Childhood Story – Early Life and Family Background:

For Biography starters, the Chelsea Legend (Petr Čech) was born on the 20th day of May 1982 in Pilsen, Czech Republic.

Čech was born a triplet along with sister Šárka and a brother named Michal, who died at the age of two after contracting an infection in the hospital.

It’s a miracle Cech survived. He was born to his mother, Libuše Čechová, and father, Václav Čech. Both are retired athletes. Čech also has an elder sister, Markéta.

Petr Cech started out as a movie star. Believe it or not, during his childhood, Cech played the role of Honza in the Czech TV series- The Territory of White Deer around 1991.

Football Story:

To follow his parent’s athletic profession, he switched from acting to football.

He started playing football at the age of seven for Škoda Plzeň (later known as Viktoria Plzeň). Fortuitous, you might say.

In his early days, Petr played as a striker. At age 10, after breaking his leg playing for the youth team of FC Viktoria Plzen, Petr, upon recovering, was often used as a goalkeeper on a temporary basis.

This was because of his height. He soon fell in love with the position and stuck with it. As stated earlier, his height naturally made him a suitable target man, but he soon realised that his future lay in goalkeeping.

Despite Čech not winning the league title in the spring of 2002 with Sparta, he attracted interest from English clubs, including Arsenal, due to his international performances.

Due to difficulties in obtaining a work permit, however, a proposed deal with the Gunners fell through. It was Chelsea who took the opportunity. The rest, as they say, is now history.

Petr Cech Biography – The worst day of his life:

Čech sustained a head injury in the match against Reading at the Madejski Stadium on the 14th day of October 2006 when he collided with Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt inside Chelsea’s penalty area within the first minute of a Premier League match.

Hunt’s right knee hit Čech’s head, leaving the goalkeeper requiring treatment.

Čech was taken off after several minutes and replaced by Carlo Cudicini, who himself was knocked unconscious later in the same game, forcing Chelsea captain John Terry to play in goal for the match’s remaining minutes.

The Surgery:

Čech underwent surgery for a depressed skull fracture. Initially unaware of the seriousness of the injury, the doctors later reported that it nearly cost Čech his life, and as a result of the collision, he suffered intense headaches.

Ex-Chelsea manager José Mourinho blamed Hunt for Čech’s injury, saying that his challenge was “a disgrace”.

He also criticised the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust and match referee Mike Riley.

A number of commentators, including current and former goalkeepers, saw the incident as highlighting the need for greater protection for goalkeepers.

Čech was able to return home on 24 October 2006 and participated in light training the following week.

Chelsea, however, announced that the goalkeeper would be out for three months, in line with medical advice on the time needed for complete recovery from the skull fracture.

In an interview, Čech said that he had no memory of the injury itself. Petr Cech once wanted to play without his helmet… but doctors ordered him to keep it on.

The Chelsea Legend’s injury is quite similar but not as serious as that which happened to Ryan Mason of Tottenham Hotspur. Mason got a head injury from a Gary Cahill head tackle.

Petr Cech Family Life:

His parents were very supportive even in his early years, providing him with all the equipment he needed. Cech enjoyed ice hockey as a child, and his dad would often accompany him to such games.

The horror of watching their Son getting Injured:

SITTING in their living room in Plzen on Saturday night, Libuse Cechova, Petr Cech’s mother, and Vaclav, the Chelsea goalkeeper’s father, were settling down to watch their son play in the Barclays Premiership match away to Reading.

Seconds after the game kicked off, Stephen Hunt collided with their son, and as Cech lay injured, his parents began to realise that this was no normal injury.

“When I saw the moment that Petr was hurt, I was horrified,” Cechova said. “I thought maybe he was suffering from some kind of concussion, but after speaking to his wife [Martina], we were told that his injuries were getting worse.”

Cechova — like José Mourinho, the Chelsea manager — claimed that the collision was not an accident. In his words…“When I saw it on…

“At first, I didn’t realise how bad it was. When I heard the diagnosis, my knees trembled. I couldn’t believe my ears.”

Petr Cech has a brother called Michal Čech. He also has two sisters named Šárka Čechová and Šárka Čechová.
