Because they still wanted their son to attend a boarding school at that age, both parents began to seek a school that would allow Pavard to play competitive football.

A boarding school near Lille football academy was his parents’ preferred choice. Pavard had to attend trials from Lille Academy, which he passed. As Benjamin puts it;

I left home very early. My parents travelled several kilometres to and fro to see me. I will never be able to thank them enough for what they have done for me.

After appearing 25 times for Lille over two seasons, Pavard began to feel a lack of trust for the club due to little first-team football. Pavard left the club to join Stuttgart in 2016.
