Ashley Cole Childhood Story – Early Life and Family Background:
For Biography starters, he bears the full names Ashley Callender Cole. Ashley Cole was born on the 20th day of December 1980 in Stepney, London, United Kingdom.
He was born to his mother, Sue Cole (a cousin of singer Maria Carey) and father, Ron Callender, who hails from Barbados.
Cole’s childhood story is interesting, if not uncommon – it’s a story of a troubled and testing childhood life which became blessed with extraordinary talent.
At an early age, Cole saw the relationship between his parents deteriorate. It finally fell apart when Ashey Cole was seven. This was when his father boldly walked out on the family.
Ashley Cole Early Life experience:
Cole, his kid brother, Mathew, and his mother had to survive by themselves, having hardly any money.
Any child who has lived through a parental break-up will know only too well the deep emotional pain it can cause; any study will speak of the damaging psychological consequences it can have.
Ashley Cole is one of many who experienced this, and the effects clearly have an impact on his life today.
As a child, Cole attended Bow School in Tower Hamlets. This was when he started playing football, and a time he changed his surname from Callender to Cole.
His mum advised him to start a youth career, and lucky Ashley was accepted at his local club, Arsenal, whom he had supported as a child.
At the age of 18, on 30 November 1999, he made his first-team debut. The rest, as they say, is now history.
Ashley Cole Affairs:
Behind every great man, there’s a great woman, or so the saying goes. And behind almost every England footballer, there’s a glamorous wife or girlfriend.
Cole began a relationship with Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy in September 2004, when they were living in the same block of flats in London.
As Cheryl Tweedy once put it;…“I met Ashley, and it was love at first sight. I learned after two weeks that he was a footballer and I wanted to give up, also because the footballer has a busy life and has many admirers.”
They married on 15 July 2006 in Wrotham Park, Hertfordshire.
That same year, Cole sued the News of the World and The Sun newspapers for libel after they printed allegations that he was involved in a “homosexual orgy”.
In January 2008, the couple almost separated after allegations were made that Cole had affairs with three other women.
Cole, upon hearing, disputed the allegations and decided to make peace with his wife. However, it was announced on 23 February 2010 that the couple would separate following new allegations of adultery.
Three months later, it was announced that Cheryl was filing for divorce. They officially divorced on 3 September 2010. Cheryl Cole’s family, led by her mum Joan, have begged her not to get back with her bad boy ex-husband.
That same year, Cole released an autobiography titled, My Defence, which sold 4,000 copies in the first six weeks of release.
Cole’s former teammate, Jens Lehmann, criticised Cole for writing an autobiography when he was 25.
Moving On:
A source revealed that Ashley became a completely different man compared to the person who cheated on Cheryl relentlessly over the years they were married.
He went on to date an Italian girl, Sharon whom he is really serious and devoted to each other. They both have two kids together.
While he moved on, Cheryl, his ex-wife, also did the same. Beautiful Cheryl moved on with Liam Payne, an English singer and songwriter who rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Ashley Cole’s ex-wife- Cheryl Ann Tweedy, moved on with Liam Payne. They both have a son. Ashley once wished Cheryl and Liam only happiness in their future.
He told Cheryl how lucky her newborn son was to have her and he always knew she’d make an amazing mum.
The message brought [Cheryl] to tears, and she admitted it finally felt like closure for their relationship. She was indeed, mesmerized.
Ashley Cole Biography – Police Issues:
Cole has had a couple of minor brushes with the police. On 4 March 2009, he was held after swearing in front of a police officer outside a South Kensington nightclub.
He was taken to a police station and issued with an £80 Fixed Penalty Notice before being released. Another police issue happened on the 4th of January 2010, when Cole was convicted of a speeding offence committed on 17 November 2009.
He was recorded exceeding the speed limit by doing 104 mph in a 50 mph zone on the A3 road via a residential stretch.
Cole defended himself at Kingston Magistrates Court, stating that the police speed gun was faulty.
When seeing the odds starting to go against him, Cole switched his claim saying his actions were excusable because he was trying to evade the paparazzi. He was fined £1000 and disqualified from driving for four months.
On 27 February 2011, Cole accidentally shot a 21-year-old sports science student (Tom Cowan) with a 22-calibre air rifle at Chelsea’s training ground. He fired at Tom from only five feet away, apparently unaware that the rifle was loaded.
After some police involvement, Cole formally apologised to Tom and discussed the incident with Chelsea’s management.
Ashley Cole Family Life:
For starters, Ashley Cole’s family (from his father’s side) have their origin in Barbados, an eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation.
Cole’s father, Ron Callender, still lives in Australia. Ron, who is 60 at the time of writing, is still estranged from Ashley for years. He once said:
“I’ve done everything to reconcile with him, but he’s decided he doesn’t want reconciliation so I had to respect that. But I haven’t given up hope. He’s my boy, he always will be.”
Ron made no secret of his disgust at Ashley’s cheating. Speaking from his home near Melbourne, Australia, where he lives with his second wife and daughter, he said: “Without a doubt, I as his father wanted Ashley to save his marriage.”
Ron Callender, upon hearing his son’s split from his wife insisted that Cole has learned from his mistakes.
In his words…“Ashley had nobody but himself to blame for the divorce, and I think he’s come round to seeing Cheryl’s point of view. I’m sure he’s learned from his mistakes. Only God knows the future but nobody can deny they are close. They are friends, and they still love each other.”
Mother:
Ashley’s mum Sue has been praised by fans for single-handedly bringing up her sons when their father Ron Callender walked out on her.
Today, she has refused to let him back in as he desperately tries to mend the broken relationship. Ashley is very close to his mum, as seen in the picture below.
The mother of cheating Ashley Cole once stepped in to try and act as a peacemaker in a desperate bid to try and save her son’s marriage to Cheryl Cole. Unfortunately, all efforts failed.
Ashley Cole Brother:
The Chelsea football Legend has a younger brother named Matthew or Matty Callender, pictured below. He was once involved in a serious car accident in 2008, of which news reports said Matty was “lucky to be alive”.
Matthew, pictured above, has got so much hatred for Rio Ferdinand.
When Ferdinand was hit in the face with the coin as he celebrated his team beating Manchester City, the ex-Chelsea star’s brother Matthew is said to have posted on Facebook:
‘So happy Rio got hit in the face today when he tried to give it kissing his badge!! Straight in the eye!! Made my day.’
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Cole’s mother Sue later added her own comment: ‘Give the fan that threw it a medal!!’. The Facebook thread was later removed. Sue Cole denied writing anything online about Ferdinand’s injury.
Cole and Ferdinand have been on bad terms for years since John Terry was accused of racially abusing Rio’s brother Anton during a match. Cole backed his ex-Chelsea teammate.
Rio was later fined by the FA for posting a message on Twitter that referred to Cole as a ‘choc ice’.
Matthew was shocked to hear Rio Ferdinand reply that;… “Whoever threw that coin, what a shot! Can’t believe it was a copper 2p….could have at least been a £1 coin!”

Reason for his Nickname:
The story started precisely on the 28th day of July 2006 when Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein confirmed that Arsenal and Chelsea had been in “serious civil talks” about Ashley Cole.
Negotiations dragged when Chelsea insisted they would not raise their £16million bid. All for Cole. But Arsenal held out at a higher valuation of £25 million.
It is pertinent to note that Arsenal had offered Cole a longer contract to stay at the club but was left “trembling and fuming with anger” when they offered him wages of £55,000 per week, whereas Chelsea was offering him £90,000 a week.
Negotiations continued throughout August 2006. And looked to be heading for a serious deadlock. This was before Ashley took matters into his own hands.
Cole went on to forcefully sign for Chelsea on 31 August for a fee of £5 million, which made Arsenal frustrated and left with the only option of asking to receive William Gallas from Chelsea as part of the same deal.
The move angered Arsenal fans, who now gave Ashley Cole the nickname “Cashley” and not only booed him but waved fake £20 notes with his face when his Chelsea club faced Arsenal.
His move to Chelsea was later justified in the photo below.
