David Silva Childhood Story – Early Life and Family Background:

The playmaker had a humble childhood start in the loving Spanish village of Arguineguin, which is known for large-scale fishing.

He learned to play football by first jumping off his court, leaving his little brother behind and then going to find fruits to kick around as his own football.

As his grandmother, Antonia Montesdeoca, puts it more succinctly in her words…

“Little David played with potatoes and oranges in front of the house when he was two.

Sometimes, I chucked him out of the passageway because he was driving me mad by always shouting football, football, football.

Because of that, I started making for his balls from rags just to avoid him going outside to kick fruits.”

David Silva Biography – Starting the Dream:

Ideally, his footballing dreams started at the tender age of 3, that moment when his parents decided to buy him a ball, which finally made him stop kicking fruit as his soccer ball.

At this time, his legs were strong enough to fit football boots, and his body sizable enough to fit his jersey and shots.

In fact, David’s determination was evident early on. However, an unfortunate event once happened.

When he was still a little boy. A ball hit him and broke his arm. Despite his injury, he still carried on with kicking a football, even though he had to wear a plaster cast.

This was when both parents and loved ones decided he must start a football career after healing from his injury.

David Silva Bio – Career in Summary:

David Silva’s football career officially started when he was eight, and he began playing in a team called San Fernando in Maspalomas (Canary Islands, Spain).

His parents endured the difficulty of travelling with him to Maspalomas which is far from his hometown.

According to David, “I had to travel there regularly, as there were no Under-10s teams in Arguinenguín, my home town and birthplace.

I wanted so much to play that my dad almost felt forced to put me down for San Fernando. Later, I was able to join my hometown team, where I spent some very great years and learned so much.”

Originally, he played as a goalkeeper before converting into a winger. David was always pictured looking very happy with his little brother, Nando Jimenez Silva, after his San Fernando training.

Little Nando loved watching his big brother on the pitch and would always stay close to him.

Young David Silva spent the whole of 1995 to 2000 playing for San Fernando.

In an interview, he said…

“I played there until I became 14. This was the time Valencia came to sign me up. I was a bit surprised at the beginning, but I accepted their offer and joined the junior players’ division of the Valencia team.”

It is pertinent to note that David Silva joined Valencia following a rejection by Real Madrid for being too small.

Playing for Valencia involved a change of residence and environment. It was hard for young David Silva at the beginning.

But after a few months, he began to get used to things and made some very good friends.

From the football point of view, the change was enormous, and thanks to the Valencia coaches who helped him to evolve in the game.

He stayed in Valencia’s youth set-up until he was 17. After the deal was made, the footballer was first sent to a reserve team. He played better despite not having a great physique.

From the age of 20, Silva was a regular in the Valencia team, netting 21 times, before joining Man City for £26 million.

In a reflective mood, David once remembered…:

“It was very hard leaving home so small and losing your friends, your family and your home environment. I left everything for football and knew I had to go for it. Today, I’m here, and I believe that things have gone well.”

The rest, as they often say, is now history.

She prefers staying in Madrid to study than following her man to England. This explains the reason why my grandson travels to Spain a lot.”

A fraudster stole £120,000 from Premier League footballer David Silva by targeting his bank account and cloning his ATM card.

Reuben, the thief, started out as an unknown caller pretending to be Silva in telephone contact with his bank, passing identity verification controls before ordering a replacement card and a pin reminder.

The card and the remainder were sent to Silva’s home – but somehow, he intercepted it.

Mr Greenald, the man who delivered the card, said:

‘He purported to be Mr Silva; he signed the new card that had been sent out and identified himself as Mr Silva. Mr Reuben was wearing a cap, but apart from that, there was no other attempt at disguise.’

Jonathan Reuben, 56, was arrested as he later posed as Spain international Silva, who is 31 (This happened in February 2017), wearing just a cap as a disguise to withdraw over £20,000 in cash from banks in Greater Manchester.

After his arrest, Reuben – also known as Jonathon Davies – claimed he didn’t feel bad about targeting David Silva because ‘He could afford it’. Fortunately, Midfielder Silva was reimbursed by his bank.

During sentencing, Judge Patrick Field QC told Reuben the thief:

“Simply because Mr Silva is a wealthy individual does not provide you or anyone else with an excuse for stealing from him”. Jonathan Reuben, the scammer and thief, were sentenced to two years behind bars.
