Aleksandr Sergeyevich Golovin was born on the 30th of May 1996 to his mother, Svetlana (an accountant) and father, Sergei Golovin (a miner), in Kaltan, Russia.

Golovin grew up with his brother, Ivan in Kaltan, the same town he was born. Kaltan is known to be a monotown of miners and large factories which provides the majority of jobs in Russia’s oblast region.

Golovin had lots of happy times growing up with his father being present in his upbringing. Back then as a kid, he was particularly fond of playing with his father’s mining truck.

His first contact with sports came through skateboarding, a sport that knows no bounds in Russia.

Despite being attracted to skateboarding, Golovin had loved to kick football right from the time he was a kid.

His first official contact with football was when he was 6, a time his father took him to his friend Aleksandr Plyasunov, a worker at the Kaltan children’s and young people’s sports school.

Golovin is one among few footballers who have actually advertised his private life as he did at popular Russia’s Vk website. 

Behind a successful Golovin, there came a glamorous girlfriend in the person of Angelina Vaschenko, pictured below.

The lovers, Golovin and Angelina Vaschenko, have been together since his early CSKA Moscow days, which dates back to 2016.

They are very comfortable with each other, which proves Golovin’s sincerity in his need of a serious relationship. Both lovers live happily with their pet monkey.

• Golovin was given the nickname “Chick” because of his small build and baby-faced looks which has similarities to that of Paulo Dybala.

Despite his appearance, the Russian shows no signs of weakness on the pitch. He is sometimes referred to as a “Baby Faced Assassin“.

• His favourite games still remain “FIFA” and “Dota-2.”
• Golovin is gentle, affectionate, curious, adaptable and has the ability to learn quickly.
• Golovin hates being alone, being confined. Wanting not to be alone was the reason why he went public about needing a girlfriend.

Aleksandr Golovin Biography – How He Learnt Football:

During his first year in the academy, Golovin the newbie, learned to orientate himself on the field easily as he was first taught how to use both legs to kick.

As his first coach said in Sports.ru interview;

Aleksandr Golovin told me his aspiration was to become pro. hE dreamed of playing in the Russian national team from his childhood.

This statement fueled the need for him to play more competitive football which means switching to a bigger youth club.

In other to improve, Golovin had to watch other midfielders’ styles. Despite being a forward, his role models were Luka Modrić, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta.

At the age of 12, Golovin and his father, Sergei went to Moscow for a try-out in Spartak. Painfully, he failed the trials because he was seen as too small, weak and unpromising. 

The rejection broke his hopes of becoming a professional footballer. However, Golovin was still determined, believing he would still make it. Trial failures made him go back to Kaltan where his football journey began.

Despite his travails, Golovin’s tenacity remained the same as he continued to train with his old youth club. While he trained, he went for other trials, one of which went successfully.

 Golovin was accepted at Metallurg-Zapsib soccer school. After he played there for 2 years, rising above all youth ranks. Due to his results, he was included in the Siberian team to participate in the Krymsk tournament as seen below.

This is where CSKA Moscow representatives noticed his qualities.

Golovin finally got a successful trial for his dream club, CSKA Moscow where he successfully finished his youth career and had a national team call-up. The rest, as they say, is now history.

Aleksandr Golovin Family Life:

Aleksandr Golovin’s parents and brother still live in the town of Kaltan in the Kemerovo region.

He visits his family and friends at the native town 2 or 3 times in a year and spends there approximately a week. While even on vacation, Golovin still loves to train.

Thanks to football monies, Golovin, through the advice of his father, once started a youth tournament sponsorship programme in the region. It saw a rich competition in which prizes were given to winners.

Aleksandr Golovin’s mother, Svetlana, loves the United Kingdom and wishes her son plays for Chelsea. As at the point of writing, Chelsea is in the process of securing his services.
